Gone to Seed
27/07/10Back to the exact same Allium hollandicum, ‘Purple Sensation’ seed head, twelve days later, to see the changes. In contrast to the previous photograph, this time I've decided to try a black background to help bring out the seeds themselves.
The reason I grow so many 'Purple Sensations' is that they're so attractive to look at even when they reach that last stages of their flowering cycle.
Now all the seed pods are opening they also make a lovely rattling sound when the wind blows.
